What a nice surprise to discover our gallery featured on Finders Keepers yesterday. It’s a wonderful insight into the gallery space, the artists and the people behind spacebar. BIG PRAISE to Calista who helped with the article.
It’s been great having a catch-up with my sewing machines lately, being creative is something I thrive on and need, I’ve had bundles of ideas just no time to sew. These new designs have just been delivered to spacebar and I thought whilst the gorgeous Holly was working today, we should have an impromptu fun dress-up shoot. THANKS HOLLY!!! Also thanks to Art Vanderlay (ANG) for “I LOVE YOUR MUFF” which shows up beautifully with the dress.
The dress “Taylor Made Little Black 2” is a variation of a style I did over 18 months ago, I’ve completely changed the pattern, altering the shape, adding darts and changing the collar which I’m much more happy with. This dress is made from cotton/elastine, but I am soon to make in a beautiful silk velvet, come is sizes S (8-10), M(12-14) and L(14-16) and priced at $170AU.
“Alexis at Night” was made firstly with a merino ponte and then I decided would look lush in silk velvet, working with velvet isn’t easy but the results are striking and feels just as good as it looks. This style was based on an old vintage jumper which I’d recently purchased and loved. The design has front pleats, 3/4 cowl draped sleeves, 3 side shoulder buttons and elasticized waistband. Sizes S (8-10), M(12-14) and L(14-16) and priced at $145AU.
“Black Cherry on Top” is again another variation from a design created over 18 months ago, I have perfected the pattern and made it in a seriously warm pure wool knit. The design has asymmetrical slit with button and tie, slight bishop sleeves and waistband. Sizes S (8-10), M(12-14) and L(14-16) and priced at $135AU.
Come to [ spacebar gallery ] and see these designs and more!
A friend suggested I start up a blog for [ spacebar gallery ], as I am from a graphic design background, I figured it was time to start blogging!
So here I am… and it’s now 4 months since [ spacebar gallery ] opened on December 11th 2010, the year is flying along at a rapid pace and behind the scenes there are loads of new and exciting artists and designers still to reveal.
I’d like to thank the wonderful people already involved (you know who you are!) and the continual support from the general public which has been amazing. Almost every customer will leave a lovely compliment and I know one day return.
Whilst I coordinate and manage away from the store, there are some amazing people to meet… pop in and see Kitty, Alex or Holly whom without their help I wouldn’t survive. Kitty will also be involved more with curating future exhibitions so if you are interested and would like to seek more information, send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
